Cairn Terrier Puppies:

Cairn Terrier Adoption:

This can be a working terrier, and is tough, diversion, and dynamic. Cairn Terriers are short-legged, and longer than tall, but not as low to the ground as the Sealyham or Scottish Terriers. Their construct empowers them to fit into near quarters in interest of their quarry.

Their head is shorter and more extensive than any other terrier, giving them great jaw quality. The weather-resistant coat consists of a soft, close undercoat and a profuse, harsh outer coat. We spend a substantial amount of time getting to know our animals and we try to match each animal’s needs with the new home’s needs. We don’t work on the same principle as purchasing from a shop or on a ‘first come first served’ basis.

Cairn Terrier White:

In fact, Cairn Terriers are known for having coats that change colours several times throughout their lives. Their coats can be any colour, including grey, red, cream, wheaten or nearly black but solid white, black and black and tan are not allowed by most kennel clubs.Some special care must be taken with grooming Cairn Terriers.

Shears or scissors can damage their coats, so they must be groomed by hand. This means pulling out the dead hairs by hand. This doesn’t harm the dog, it simply means running your hands over their coats to draw out dead hair, making room for new growth. This is also a good way to check for skin problems, which can occur from time to time with this breed.

These little bundles of fur can be extremely energetic. They are gutsy and faithful to their proprietors. They’re very intelligent dogs and with the right training are able to learn a number of tricks. On the other hand, they don’t do very well with an owner who is meek or unwilling to assert dominance.

Cairn Terrier Grooming:

Use a pin brush weekly as it reaches through the thick undercoat and grooms the rough topcoat, though some owners prefer a comb to help work through tangles. A periodic hand-stripping is recommended for your Cairn to keep their coat texture harsh and dirt-proof.

You only need to bathe this breed rarely because of their waterproof double-coat—you don’t want to chance robbing their coat of its natural protective oils. Also, choose a shampoo made especially for breeds with “hard coats,” since these are formulated especially for them.

Don’t forget about those nails. Long nails are super uncomfortable for pups, so trim them regularly. The more you do it, the more used to it they’ll become. Keeping the hair around the eyes trimmed helps keep them healthy (and able to see).Pay attention to their toes—this is a curious, active breed, so make sure their feet are trimmed, well-maintained, and ready for adventure.
